What Causes Persistent Tinnitus After Sharp Ear Pain Post Air Travel?

I have a swooshing noise in both ears. This began 2 months ago after I flew from Mpls to Az. In the process of landing on this flight, I had sudden sharp pain in my right ear. The following morning the white noise started.I don t have the noise in the AM now, but as the day progresses it starts and generally gets louder.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tinnitus may be due to Infection or BPPV or labyrinthitis or vestibular neurinitis or posterior circulation stroke or hypotension or mandibular joint problems or age related labyrinthine degeneration etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tab.Vertin 16 mg thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
