What Causes Pimples On The Penis?

I'm 22 years old, 5'10" 230 lbs and I was recently prescribed mupirosin ointment for folliculitis in the pubic region, it has helped to clear the folliculitis but since I began using it ive gotten what appears to be pimple like white heads on my penis, what is causing this and how can I remedy it?
