Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am a 38 year old male 180 lbs. very active and work out 4-5 times a week, recently for like 10-12days I've felt a sharp pinching pain in my upper rectum or end of my large intestine area (not sure can't exactly pin point) when I have gas only I feel this... I've been very gasey of late and can feel a gas bubble travel around to where just before I pass the gas it gives me this sharp pain... if I don't release and push the gas out but hold it in I will feel the pain again, no pain what so ever when I pass stool so it makes me feel like the gas bubble hits a spot and gets stuck? makes no sense to me what causes the pain but it is very concerning... could it be a tear in my intestine?
From what you are describing, the pain you feel when passing gas is due to bowel enlargement due to gas. When the bowels are extended, it might press the nearby nerves, causing the pain.
I advise to discuss further with your physician to determine the cause to being gasey: - bowel infection: culture of stool for pathologic candida is advised - cholecyst issue: abdominal ultrasound is advised - gastritis to be rule out from other symptoms you might have - foods you eat: potato, oily, starchy foods, etc. - lack of physical activity
Hope it was of help!
