What Causes Pink Spotting And Cramps When Pregnant?
im 38 weeks pregnant had vaginal exam two days ago with slight pink spotting andd cramping afterwards. Now bright red bleeding is happening everytime i wipe i get a fair amount. Is this normal? Baby 5 for me and this never happened before. Ive had bloody shows in the past but never with this much blood
Towards the end of a pregnancy, the cervix is thinned out and often slightly dilated. Any manipulation of the cervix in this setting (often with vaginal exams and intercourse) is associated with bleeding and "bloody show". The cervix is very prone to bleeding in this setting. I often warn women after exams that they will experience bleeding. That being said, if you have noticed that the bleeding has increased beyond what you experienced after the initial exam, then you should contact your OB Provider and see if they would like you seen for evaluation.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
Dr. Tim
