What Causes Pneumonic Infiltration After Knee Replacement Surgery?

My 56 yr old daughter had a total hip replacement Monday, started running a fever that night, is diagnosed with infiltration pneumonia in both lungs. They say it is contagious and not sure they want me to come out. How contagious is it and would I be OK if I wore a mask and took other precautions?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, pneumonia is contagious.
It can be prevented by wearing mask. So better to wear mask when you are near your daughter.
You should maintain good immunity to prevent infection.
Follow proper hand washing, eat healthy food and drink plenty of fluids orally.
Consult doctor and get done chest x ray if you develop cough, expectoration and fever.
No need to fear but better to be cautious.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
