But always I would dissuade my patients from consuming alcohol because of the other serious side effects/complications it could produce. The present pain or poking sensation could be due to regeneration of the nerve endings which were cut during the surgery which is normal or due to an actual wound infection which could be diagnosed by a personal physical examination. Therefore, I would advise you to get it reviewed by your surgeon. Till then you could go for an anti inflammatory with a proton pump inhibitor for a symptomatic relief.
