Hello. I have been having one hard heartbeat that makes me feel like I ve lost my breath then it goes back to normal. it s happens frequently (3 to 4 times a day) but is only one strong beat that changes my heart rythum for a minute or two. Is this something to be concerned about?
Hi welcome to HCM I understand your query and concern. Recurrent palpitations in your case should be ruled out for any arrhythmia of heart.Monitor your blood pressure and blood sugars.Anti hypertensives should be taken if your blood pressure is elevated. Also get an ECG,2 D Echo of the heart, lipid profile, complete blood picture to confirm the diagnosis.Drugs like amiodarone will be helpful once diagnosis is confirmed. You may need Electrophysiological study +Radio frequency ablation. Holter ECG is occasionally helpful.Avoid smoking and alcohol.Avoid stress and anxiety.Exercise regularly for 30 min. Consult.Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Post your further queries if any, Thank you.
