What Causes Predominantly Echogenic Bilobed Mass On The Left Ovary?
I had an pelvic ultrasound recently and received results that I had a heterogeneous but predominatly echogenic bilobed mass on the left ovary. The left ovary is also enlarged. The scan said the apperance is nonspecific and could represent teratoma but is indeterminate as to etiology. Can you explain to me more what this means? Also, I have a history of melanoma in situ on the abdomen and back, is there a possible connection?
It could probably be a dermiscyst which is benign and not malignant. But if it is left untreated then it might turn into malignancy. Hence, you need to have a gynecologist consultation. MRI should be taken to rule out any other pathology. You also need to take a test called CA 125 which tells us whether it is cancer or not to some extent. Need not panic. Kindly go have your consultation with your gynecologist and proceed whatever they are advising.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
