What Causes Pregnancy Symptoms While Having Mirena Coil?

I have the mirena coil with the past 4 years and now I am getting pregnancy symptoms, I have done 3 pregnancy tests, the first one was positive, 2nd one negative and the third one negative. I have heard that whilst using the mirena coil as contraception, it can give pregnancy symptoms, Which would be the likely outcome in this?

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us. The Mirena IUD does not lead to a false positive pregnancy test. Such instances can happen when chorionic gonadotropin is given externally as part of treatment. You have had varying result with the HPT so I suggest that you go for the estimation of the serum beta-hCG titers along with a trans-vaginal sonogram to clarify the situation. Further management can be planned accordingly. Hope this helps.
