What Causes Pressure In Lower Abdomen And Discomfort In Rectum?

Hi how are you? i seem to have what feels like pressure in my lower abdomen. right below the belly button. It feels like gas pains and when i go to the bathrom it feels better but seems to come back. If i push too hard to go to the bathroom i feel the discomfort radiate down to my rectum. What can this be?

Hi,

I understand your concerns. It seems you have some form of irritable bowel syndrome, which is a benign condition. You don't have to worry about its complications as it is be easily controlled with lifestyle modifications, reducing stress and occasionally medicines. I would advise you to reduce carbohydrates containing diet like potatoes that causes flatulence, increase good containing fibres and increase plenty of fluids. Try to reduce the stress if there is any. You can take ispaghul husk to regulate your bowel movements. If there is constipation, you can take laxatives and pain killers like antispasmodics for relieving pain.
