Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 18 years old and I weigh 220 pounds. I used to be active with heavy weights and cardio exercises, but ever since I graduated I have not lifted or had a cardio workout. I do have a partially active job I throw freight from midnight to morning. I graduated 9 months ago and I weighed 213 pounds but I was strong and active during this time without any problems. I cannot sleep because as soon as I doze off I wake up trying to catch a small breath of air that feels like I missed. this has been happening for 2 weeks in a row and about 5 to 10 times a day. I also have had slight pressure under my sternum which does not seem to go away and I am always belching. This started the same time my sleeping problem occurred. Can it be a Hiatal Hernia or Sleep Apnea or any other problem?
Hello Carla Huston I really appreciate your concern Looking at your description this could be due to Acid peptic disease like gastritis or peptic ulcer Liver or gall bladder disease or gall stone Colitis worm or parasitic infestation
I would like further information to guide you better Your age and relevant medical history Do you feel pain in abdomen or diarrhoea does it increases after taking food?
In my opinion you should take pantoprazole or rabeprazole group of drugs with antacids and domperidone for symptomatic relief Avoid fatty fried spicy and junk food or carbonated drinks Complete abstinence of smoking and alcohol Have lots of fresh fruits and fruit juices.
Hope this answers your question Thanks for your question Wish you good health
