What Causes Prickly Sensation In Chest While Laughing?
I have experienced several months ago this sharp prickly sensation in my chest (spreading out) that is precipaitated by laughing hard only on 2 occasions. Now I am experiencing the same thing with coughing. I am getting over a cold. The sx's last for seconds only but is very uncomfortable at the time. Any ideas of what may be the cause?
As per your history and description, possibility of muscular spasm is more likely. Laughing and coughing can cause movement of ribs and intercostal muscles. These movements can sometimes trigger muscle spasms and this in turn gives symptoms of pricking sensations.
This is more commonly seen with calcium and vitamin D3 deficiencies. So in my opinion, you should first get done calcium and vitamin D3 levels and if deficiency occurs, then you will need supplements. Apply warm water pad on affected areas of chest.
