What Causes Productive Cough With Yellowish-green Phlegm?
I have had a productive cough my lungs hurt at times when I cough(usually in the morning). my sputum is yellowish-green. (no runny nose). headache, no fever and an extremely sore throat. I have had these symptoms for almost two weeks now. One of my three children have the exact symptoms as me but also a runny nose. Another member of the household has the symptoms a little less severe and a third child about the same symptoms as me. My husband has no symptoms. We are currently treating symptoms with comfort measures of a humidifier at bedtime, throat lozenges and ice chips/popsicle type a couple times we needed ibuprofen and benadryl to make it through the night. How long do we let these type of symptoms persist before seeking treatment? We are both self employed and our deductible is very high so we would have to pay most likely 100% for all four of us to see a Dr. I hate to seek care for a cold......I guess it s been awhile since I ve been sick, but do colds last this long? any insight for myself and to help me care better for my family would be very appreciated !
Hi. I can understand your concern. It would be advisable for you to get a chest x ray done. It is necessary to look for pneumonia as routine infections do not last this long. It is better to consult a doctor at the earliest. Don't worry, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
