My menstrual cycle started on the 2nd of October and although it has slowed down and is light right now, it is still present on the 20th day of the month. This happened to me about two years ago. I had it checked, did a biopsy and everything was fine but I am becoming concerned. I do have fibroids.
Thank you for the question and I am happy to help.
Abnormal bleeding from the uterus can have many causes. In women with irregular cycles who do not ovulate regularly bleed because the uterine lining builds up abnormally and then sheds unpredictably. Women with uterine polyps have unpredictable bleeding. Women with fibroids typically have heavy painful periods. It sounds like you have been evaluated for pre-cancerous changes in the past as well. The best way to sort this out is to go in to your doctor and arrange for an ultrasound and exam. You may need a procedure called a hysteroscopy to sort this out further.
I hope that this helps and good luck! Dr. Tim
