What Causes Protrusion Of Leg Into Duodenum Post IVC Filter Removal?

I had an ivc filter removed this year the left lateral,3:oo position protrudes into the adjacent aorta wall. The primary leg anteriorly protrudes into the duodenum. The primary leg along the right lateral aspect, in the 9:00 position contacts the proximal right ureter. There are 2 fractured secondary legs, in the 11:00 and 1:00 position on axial #39. One of these is embedded with the posterior pancreatic head, and the other is looped within the anterior right paravertebral space, at the L3-4 disc level. Will these cause problems and what kind?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* There seems to be possible threat for future adverse outcomes with the embedded and fractured legs of IVC filter at the narrated places.
* I recommend to discuss the case with your vascular surgeon as there may be future complications in terms of heart pain, palpitation, other abdominal issues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
