Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi my 2 yr old started speech therapy 3 weeks ago and had a viral fever with no other symptoms 2weeks ago. I noticed he was sticking his tongue out a lot and folds his bottom lip in. he also puts his tongue out while trying to talk. Please help me understand what is going on? thanks.
I can understand your concern. This is the age when your son has started eruption of teeth in the oral cavity. As new thing comes in the mouth, it takes time for the child to get used to it. He might be getting lots of saliva because of the erupting teeth and sticking tongue out is also because of that only. It will stop as the child will get used to teeth in mouth.
You can also train the child by explaining patiently that sticking tongue out is not a good habit and can modify his behavior. In addition, I would also like to point out that as your son is getting teeth now, this is the time for his first dental visit and then the visits should be continued every 6 months for regular dental check up.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
