What Causes Puffiness And Discharge From The Baby Eye?

Hello, I have a 2 month little girl, she woke up this morning and her right eye was really puffy and has quite a bit of discharge. It doesnt seem to be bothering her but im not sure if she has scratched herself or what. I was told that it could be something with her tear ducts but last time that was both eyes, this time its only the one. Was wondering what I could do or what it might be? Her pediatrician is closed until monday

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. I just read through your question. This problem could still be an issue with the tear duct. This type of thing can happen on one side. However, sight unseen, this could potentially be a mild infection, or it could develop into one. I recommend keeping the eye clean with a damp cotton ball or washcloth and applying a warm compress several times a day for a few minutes. If it improves, then there is nothing else to do. If it persists or worsens, you can consult with your doctor when the office reopens.
