What Causes Puffy Under Eyes?

I am male, age 75, and have never been allergic to anything. Living in the same apartment for four years, same diet, nothing changed, etc. For the last 50 - 60 days I wake up with sacs beneath my eyes very swollen and eyes very bloodshot. No pain or other symptoms. I massage the sacs and after about two hours, they seem to disappear, I look like some one with a peanut allergy or similar - and then it goes away. I purchased new hypoallergenic pillow, sheets, and laundry detergent, since this condition only develops at night when I am asleep. Nothing like this in family history either. Any ideas? .

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Swelling around the eyes could have been caused due to problems associated with kidneys and low albumin levels.
Kindly get your urine sample tested for albumin and microscopy. Also, get your blood tested for total proteins and albumin in serum.
Along with these tests, kindly get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen done.
Consult Nephrologist along with the reports for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
