What Causes Pulsations In Body After Tapring Off Of Venlafaxine?

I take Ativan, and recently started to take quetiapine while I was tapering off of venlafaxine. Lately I have been getting a weird sensation were it feels like a pulse wave goes through my body. It can happen often in short intervals, or isolated. I just want to know if it is a side effect.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Venlafaxine is a SNRI drug and it causes increase in serotonin and nor epinephrin neurotransmission in brain by causing change in receptor level. When weaned off without proper tapering then it may result in withdrawal effects which manifest with restlessness, anxiety, palpitations etc symptoms. Qutiapine is an antipsychotic drug and have different action than venlafaxine so it will not have any effect on tapering of venlafaxine. I would advise you to taper the doses of venlafaxine gradually by reducing the doses by 20-25% every two weeks. This will prevent significant palpitations.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
