Hi I have had a large purple bruise appear on my calf, this also happened in April 2013 and I went to the doctor but it had started to fade and get better, they were not worried about it and didn t do anything, but now i have another large bruise in exactly the same spot. Both times they did not occur from any injury. Age 31

Blood disorder like leukemia,anemia,hemophilia may cause bruishing area.
Low platlate cause thombocytopenia. It lead to purple dot under a skin area. Do your blood cell count report.
Muscle strain or injury may cause this type of purple area.
Deficincincy of vitamins C may cause purple area.
Purpuric dermatosis may cause blood leak from small capillary that cause bruish are.
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura may ruled out.Blood clot under skin may cause purplish spots.
In diabetes this type of bruishing at leg is commons.
