What Causes Purple Discoloration Of Legs After Spending Time At Beach?
I am over 40 weeks pregnant and spent the day at the beach yesterday. I didn t lay out, but I still got really bad sunburn. This morning when I woke up, I had been standing for only about 5 minutes when I noticed my legs and feet turned purple/blue. They looked all bruised, and my knees were the worst. What does this mean? Is it sun poisoning? Will it effect my unborn baby?

HI, I understand your concern. In pregnancy skin becomes more sensitive to ultraviolate light due to high pregnancy hormones & increased vascularity of lower limbs/ pelvic region. .. More so when exposure is between 10 am. to 4 pm. .. without having sunscreen protection. You seem to have excessive exposure leading to skin burns after exposure to sun through out the ady. The blueness & blueness being due to rupture of subcutaneous veins. In early months of pregnancy sun bath may break folivc acid .. which can lead to congenital anomoly in fetus. .. You being in 40th week of pregnancy, do not have such risk. Only possibility of dehydratuon should be taken care of by drinking lot of water/ juices/ coconut water/ lemon water Or Iv infusion as per need. I would request you to consult your health caretaker for need of fluid replacement. Thanks.
