What Causes Purplish Discoloration On Toenail Spreading Over Entire Nail Bed?

I am a 37 year old Caucasian female with no other health problems. Approximately 2-3 months ago, I noticed the lunula part of my rt toenail was growing in purplish. I didn t think much about it. Now the discoloration has spread over a much larger part of the nail bed. I cannot recall any trauma to the nail, and none of the toes are affected. Should I be concerned? If so what are the concerns?

hi. I have read your question and understand your concern.

purplish discoloration of lunula now spreading to nail bed can be a sign of melanoma. melanomas are more common in Caucasians. melanoma is a type of skin malignancy.

I suggest you see your dermatologist and get a nail biopsy done for confirmation of Diagnosis. till then you don't need any treatment.

wish you good luck. hope this helps. for any further questions please get back to us. thanks.
