What Causes Pus Discharge From Montgomery Gland Just Prior To Feeding?
my daughter is breast feeding- has what I think a pus discharge from Montgomery gland especially when she is trying to express a little prior to feeding. A lump has formed in the area not seen but felt in the same area- tender and sensitive when baby feeds. she is of course terrified
Hello, Thank you for your query. Please ask her to be calm, nothing to be terrified about. This could be a simple cyst with milk. Common during breast feeding. Clogged milk duct can result in this. I recommend : -warm compresses thrice a day. Following this try to gently express milk towards the nipple from the affected area. -apply ice pack (wrapped in a thin cloth) over the area whenever necessary to reduce pain. -proper feeding techniques with adequate latching will help prevent these.
If the skin over this area is red or extremely tender, please see a doctor ASAP to check for infection and to treat promptly. This too is common but can be painful and uncomfortable. Hope this help and she feels better. Wish you all good health
