What Causes Pyelonephritis In A Cardiac Patient?

My MIL is cardiac patient who underwent angioplasty 6months ago. She has now been diagnosed with pyenolonephritis and her creatinine is 3.79 BUN is 25 urea is 52 .She was also detected with Hepatitis C. Only urologists have seen her and not nephrology.. is this curable? And they have suggested some stents for the kidney as well. Is it required? Her vomiting and lose motions have not stopped inspite of all the antibiotics they are pumping.
