What Causes "pins And Needles" Sensation On Tongue And Lower Lip?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...Hi, I have been having pins and needles on my tongue and bottom lip over past 30 minutes or so. I have never had pins and needles on my lip before but have had pins and needles on my tongue twice before. I have had a coated tongue for about a year now and this has not cleared up, despite various medications. Any ideas about what's wrong with me?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain pins and needles also known as Tingling sensation of lips can be due to a number of causes like allergic reaction to any food or medicine, hormonal imbalances, nerve damage or nerve injury, excessive alcohol consumption, infections etc..
Coating of tongue can be of different colours like white coating can be due to yeast infection known as Oral Thrush , black or brown due to Black Hairy tongue etc..
Treatment will depend upon the cause of coating..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough evaluation and investigations as per the suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..

As of now do warm compresses over the lip and do warm saline gargles..
Clean your tongue using a tongue cleaner or a soft toothbrush..
