What Causes Racing Heartbeat, Atrial Fib After Taking Zoloft And Seroquel?
My 25 year old son is on Zoloft 200 mg./day and Seroquel 25 mg./day. Has been on this combination for about one month. Has now developed racing heartbeat and has been to the ER twice in last 3 days. Today was diagnosed with bouts of atrial fib. I think this may be related to the Zoloft. Your thoughts?

I presume ur son must be on these medications for bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder.
Zoloft that is sertaline is at its maximum recommended dose
Seroquel that is qutaipine is atypical antipsychotic with action on dopaminergic receptors.
atrial fibrillation is a known side effect of Seroquel unlike Zoloft.
but such a high dose of Zoloft can potentiate the effect of Seroquel.
please stop Seroquel immediately and meet up with a psychiatrist for change of medications.
