Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Radiating Pain From The Groin To The Hip?
i have severe pain in my groin area going down the side of leg and in the buttock area. I am a 75 year old female in good shape. I have been taking Oxybutynin for over active bladder and Nitrofurantoin for a urinary infection. It is so painful I want to go to the emergency room. What is going on. Can you help me?
Groin pain most likely indicates a problem with the hip joint. You might have sustained a muscle strain, sprain, ligament tear, or a disease of the bones of the joint.
I suggest visiting an emergency as you wanted, for them to diagnose the disease correctly with imaging techniques such as Xray. However, you could use over-the-counter pain relief drugs for the pain in the interim.
I hope i have answered your question.
Best wishes.
