What Causes Rapid Heart Beat Of Fetus During Pregnancy?
My daughter in law is 13 weeks, 4 days pregnant. The Dr did an ultrasound and saw fluid on back of babys neck. He sent her to specialist and he did genetic testing. He said it looked like a cystic hygroma and it could possoble go away or baby may not make it. Babys heart rate at 12 weeks was eratic and 138 beats per minute. 3 days ago it was 133 and yesterday it was anywhere from 40 to 120 beats per minute. Is there anything you can tell us about this, especially the heart condition? Is there any fetal treatment anywhere?
Hi, I have gone through your question. Cystic hygroma is found in fetus with: 1. Chromosomal anomaly, especially Turner syndrome 2.Anomaly of lymphatic drainage system of the fetus. 3. Idiopathic, in which no cause is found and can resolve over time. If the fetal heart is varying, there may be associated congenital heart anomaly and the possibility of chromosomal anomaly is increased. I would suggest your daughter in law to wait for the chromosomal analysis of the fetus, and then further decision has to be taken accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr Deepti verma
