I am having probs with my thyroid for past 5-6 yrs.my tsh is always high and too high at times and t3,t4 is mostly normal.i am obese above 100 kg in weight and 30 yrs old & 5ft .11in height. I feel a swollen thyroid gland at times and difficulty to swallow too at times.my heart beat is fast and high.everyone near me asks why I breath so heavily even when I am simply relaxing.i gain lot of weight at times even if my diet is controlled.

Hello
Thank for choosing HCM
Your concern is appreciated, let me explain in brief as long as your query is concern, if the TSH level is elevated and T3T4 are normal then it could be hypothyroidism means the thyroid gland is under active does not produces the thyroid hormone, such case need to be differentiated for treatment because certain condition may not need any treatment but of course needs observation while certain condition really needs long term medication and for that "Levothyroxine" works well and not other drug could works, hypothyroidism seldom have clinical symptoms, as long as your symptoms are concern it could be due to obesity and that may associate with other systemic causes, it is advisable to see the endocrinologist for better treatment and advise hope this information helps
