Hi, I was given local anesthesia for a procedure Friday afternoon and I woke up this morning with a rash that has spread all over my body. I have also had a fever and chills for over 7 hours. Do you think this is an allergic reaction or something more?
Hi. As per your case history of generalized rashes, my treatment advice is - 1. It is probably not related to local anesthesia, as there is no fever in allergic rash. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
