What Causes Rectal Pain?

My husband has a pinching pain in his rectom for the past few days. He s 70 yrs old. He lifts lightweights in a gym to strengthen his muscles since his stroke. What could it be and is it from lifting at the gym? He s really worried about it. No blood in stools, no pain having BM.

Hello!

Thank you for trusting HCM!

Rectal pain in old age may be caused by proctalgia fugax; a condition causing fleeting rectal pain. Cause is unknown probably spasm of anal sphincter muscles.

Other possibilities like rectal malignancy, prolapse, hemorrhoids and fissure in anus.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your surgeon. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care
