What Causes Recurrent Cholinergic Urticaria?

Frequently as my body temp heats up I will get intense burning/stinging sensations over most of my skin, it will only last a minute or two then subside as activity continues, but, it is really painful for those few minutes. There is no associated rash. What could this be?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of cholinergic urticaria, my treatment advice is:

1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors for 2 months.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medicine like levocetrizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral propranolol, colchicine to be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
