What Causes Recurrent Sinus Infections After Even After Sinus Surgeries?
I ve had two sinus surgeries over the last 4 years. In 2010 I had a 2.5 centimeter polyp/cyst removed after having chronic sinus infections and getting a CT scan. Then about 9 months ago I started getting sinus infections again, back to back. In January I had turbinate surgery and my ENT cleaned out my sinuses hoping it would help. It apparently didn t because I ve had three more sinus infections since. I ve taken every kind of antibiotic available (including Levofloxacin 500mg) and none of them seem to work. My regular doctor sent me for another CT scan last week and these were the results: Postsurgical changes of bilateral uncinectomies. There is mild mucosal thickening of the left frontal sinus. Scattered near complete opacification of the ethmoid air cells. Near-complete opacification of both maxillary sinuses measuring 15 mm in thickness on the left and 11 mm on the right. Circumferential mucosal thickening in the sphenoid sinus. The radiologist mentions Pansinus disease... what does all this mean?
hi...if you are getting recurrent sinus infection, this means that there is underlying allergic component. you should strictly avoid dust. wear mask while going out or driving. keep your surrounding cleans,be away from kitchen fumes, animals, trees. daily wash your blankets, pillows, bedsheets, clothes.avoid food items which you are allergic too.you should also get your sugars checked.you can start with fluticasonenasal spray, oral steroids and monteleukast+levocetrazine before undergoing any revision surgery. don't worry if you strictly follow the above measures, you will find relief.
