What Causes Recurrent Sore Throat, swollen Tonsils And White Blisters?
Hi, I am 20 years old, and about a month ago I went to the doctor because my throat was killing me and my tonsils were swollen, blood red with white patches on them. They took tests but all came back negative. I was given antibiotics which took awhile to work but they did work. After 3 weeks the sore throat, swollen tonsils, red blisters, and white patches came back. Once again I was given antibiotics. My throat no longer hurts but my tonsils are still really swollen. What could be the problem?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms seems most commonly due to infection while if the infection is not diagnosed the other most common cause can be acid reflux or laryngopharyngeal reflux or silent reflux.. As the pain in throat has now subsided it seems to be recovering and the tonsils may take a comparatively longer time to resolve and regress in size..As of now do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations. But in case if the swelling shows no signs of resolution consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like upper G.I Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
