What Causes Recurrent Vaginal Spotting While On Prednisone?
Took a 12 day dose of methyl prednisone for skin inflammation. Started spotting about 3 days into the medication and the spotting lasted for a week. My period followed the spotting and doesn t seem to want to stop even though I have been off the medication for almost a week. This is the 8th day of my period. Will it eventually stop or did the methyl prednisone do something to my system?
From the description you have given, it looks like you are experiencing hormone imbalance due to the steroid therapy since the biochemical mechanism is interfered with during the process.
To control the bleeding you may use styptics after taking help from your health care provider. If necessary, a couple of hormone courses under medical surveillance should suffice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
