What Causes Recurring E Coli Infection Of UT While Having Diabetes?
Dear Doctor, I am 58 years old and known diabetic. Have been getting repeated infection of E Colli of the Urinary Tract, inspite of Anti Biotic Injections through IV. Could you please suggest a sure cure for this, as this has badly effected my kidney. My sugar levels are under control. Regards.
There are many reasons for the recurrent E.Coli infection in a patient with diabetes as
- different strains of E.Coli than the previous infection as it has very high antigenic specificity and variability through its pili over the surface.
- the problem in the phagocytosis through glycosylation in the glomeruli of the kidneys due to diabetes
- consumption of compliments from the glomerulopathy and hence the bacteria can flourish more easily
- lack of hydration level adequacy
- sexual intercourse related if active
