Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You give a familiar history. Your daughter is by all means not alone. The most frequent cause is attendance at daycare. Does she attend daycare? If you go into a typical daycare center, you will find many, if not most, of the toddlers have some sort of viral illness. That could be a cold, throat infection, pneumonia, or diarrhea. The children are in close contact with one another which makes it easy for them to be exposed to the other viruses being carried by their classmates. Being so young they haven't been in contact with these germs previously, so they are susceptible to coming down with illnesses caused by these germs. Now take a look into a class of sixth graders and you will find less sickness. Because these children have previously come in contact with many of the viruses that are causing the daycare students to come down with so many illnesses. The sixth graders have developed immunity to those viruses whereas the toddlers have not. One positive result of this situation is that as she gets older, she will get fewer of these infections. In the USA it is now springtime with fewer viral illnesses. I hope I have been able to help you and your daughter.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
