Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm having pain in my buttock but not my rectum. It also seems to radiant around to the front of my pelvic and has been going on the the last two days. The pain tends to come and go and will stop me in my tracks. I've taken over the counter medicine which helps for a moment but the pain comes back after a while.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. This is very typical presentation that you have pain in the buttock that makes you stop in the tract and is radiating around top the front of pelvis. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get examination done either by a General Surgeon or Orthopedic Surgeon as the cause can be an abscess or cellulitis in hte said area. MRI of the affected area alone can give the best possible diagnosis and hence should be done asap so that a proper management can be done. You need to take anti-inflammatory medications and muscle relaxants round the clock; will need antibiotics if there is sort of an infection. Take full rest till proper diagnosis is made. Take plenty of water and fluids and have laxatives to have smooth stools in the morning as this can be really painful or increase the problems.
