What Causes Recurring Pain In The Nose?

For as long as I can remember I have had reoccurring pain in my nose. It comes and goes. I never had any trauma to it as a child. The pain can be gone for a some time and reappear for no reason or it also comes when I am stressed or the weather is cold. This pain is usually accompanied by a dark shadow across the bridge of my nose and under both my eyes. I have attended several ENT specialists and been referred to a neurologist and also to get a CT scan to see if its caused by my sinuses. All these results came back clear and okay. No one knew what the problem was. I started attending a new specialist and he reckons that the pain is neuropathic pain and has prescribed me amitriptyline for a course of six weeks. He however could not explain the shadows across the bridge of my nose and under my eyes that only appear when this pain is occurring. Do you have any explanation or any treatments? The bruising is so severe people would ask if someone hit me and is quite embarrassing.

Hello
Thank you for posting your query here. I understand your complaints.
I would request you to arrange your future queries in paragraph format as it makes easier for us to follow your thoughts.
Coming to your problems, these shiny dark patches around eyes are called Allergic shiners. It is due to increased vascular flow under eye -veins. You must be suffering from allergic rhinosinusitis, the CAT scan may be normal in this condition.
If I were your doctor, I would have done allergy blood tests, nasal swabs for eosinophils and started on a nasal steroid spray like mometasone. It should help with the relief of such patches.
Let me know if there is any clarification required.
Happy to help
