What Causes Recurring Upper Esophageal Discomfort?

Periodically, I get some discomfort in my upper esophagus and it is linked to discomfort in both upper arms. I have no nausea, no regurtation and was checked by my cardiogist two weeks ago. The esophaus discomfort is sort of like a burning and the arms feels like that is more something with nerves than acutal pain. I can sit up right in a chair and the discomfort goes away - When I am having an attack, I cannot sleep on either side

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Sounds anxiety related transient acid reflux, which will cause mucosa irritation of the oesophagus and give discomfort. It is mandatory to undertake an upper GI endoscopy with your gastroenterologist specialist to rule out GERD as the main cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
