Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been feeling crampy for the last 24 hours. This morning I went to the bathroom and my bm had a reddish purple spot on it. I just went to the bathroom and when I wiped it was the same red color with little red balls in it. They were hard, but would break open if i used force. What could this ba and should I go to the ER?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of feeling crampy for 24 hours, had reddish purple spots on stool, blood on wiping and red ball on it which could be broken.
This can be due to a bleeding lesion in the colon or the rectum or anal canal. The cramps might have been due to the bleeding and body's natural instincts to push it out. I would advise you the following: Get the stool tests done as well as of the blood and urine. Ultrasonography of the abdomen. Per-rectal digital examination and proctoscopy to start with and a plan for colonoscopy and CT scan of the abdomen to rule out cancer of the bowel. Once all the investigations are done the diagnosis will be clear and a plan for further p[roper management can be done to have a cure.
