What Causes Red Blood In Tissues/stools With History Of Hemorrhoids?

i have suffered from hemmroids for a long time then finally had the stapling surgery and it helped a ton well now after about 6 yrs i am now getting red blood on the tissue and blood in the toilet now . no external hemmroids should i be concerned or can i just assume it is inner hemmroids ??

Thanks for posting your query.

Though the red blood in stools could be due to internal hemorrhoids, you should not assume that bleeding is only due to that. There are other causes as well like fissure, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulosis, maliganancy etc.

A sigmoidoscopy should be done to find the source of bleeding and confirm the diagnosis.
