Three weeks ago I was burnt with hot oil. I used ssilvadene to heal it. The skin is healing slowly. The ssilvadene was had finish so i shift to ttripleaantibiotic ointment. I now experience some fine red boils on the heal skin. It is also itching. Is it because of the antibiotic?
Hello, yes, quite possible that the triple antibiotic has caused sensitisation and a contact dermatitis, as long as you were using silver sulfadiazine ointment, it was fine as silver sulfadiazine has action spectrum against organisms that can infect a burn lesion, but shifting to triple antibiotic cream wasnot wise. I would adv you that if the wound is clean, which it appears (going by your history that it is healing), you don't need further antibiotics..What is needed is aseptic dressings regularly (with paraffin tulle applied to prevent adherence to the wound base) and a careful watch for evidence of infection. Wishing you a faster recovery Thanks Take care
