What Causes Red Bumps On Tongue With Swelling?

My tongue has been hurting for at least 3 days. I noticed that it is not sores, but the impression of my teeth along the sides and it s difficult to talk. I think it s swollen. Also, when I brushed my teeth the whiting coating did not come off, and looking way in the back there are some red bumps.

Hi,

Going through your query, i feel that you might be having an inflammation of tongue. Also the red bumps as you said way back in the tongue, are most likely inflamed tongue papillae (normal).

You shouldn't worry much as of now. Try following these instructions for a week and then get it reviewed, if it doesn't subside by then.

1) Start with a lot of fluids/ juices
2) Start rinsing mouth with warm saline rinses
3) Keep brushing the tongue nicely
4) Take an anti-inflammatory medication/ painkiller
5) Take some multivitamin/ Vitamin B Complex capsules (once daily for a month)

Hope this helps.
Wish you good health. Regards.
