My 1 year old has a puffy red eyelid. No redness in the white of the eye. It is watery. It has a tiny amount of goop in it but nothing extreme and no crusty goop when she wakes up. No fever but she just started coughing a little today. Could it be viral conjunctivitis due to a cold? Can she go to the babysitter with other kids?
It is a localized lid infection. It can be blepharitis or sty.Clean the eye lid with sterile swab. Apply neosporine eye ointment on lid margin. Look for dandruff. If present should be treated with anti dandruff shampoo.
