Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my mom has a lump on inside of calf on her right leg. Has had it about 30-45 days. Not painful, but now lower leg is turning red and itchy. Went to endocrinologist and he said he didn t know what it was. It goes away after she lays down for the night or for a nap, but comes back after moving around again. Mostly a sedentary oerson with spinal stenosis. She is 82.
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that your mother may be suffering from varicose veins as swelling appear on standing and disappear on lying down, lower leg is red and itching and swelling disappear on lying down. It can be confirmed by colour Doppler ultrasound study of the limb. Elastic stocking may be of use. She can take cetrizine for itching. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
