What Causes Red Lesions On The Body When Diagnosed With Encephalitis?
Yes, my brother-in-law was admitted to the hospital today with a diagnosis of Encephalitis? Blister-type red lesions? were noted on his skin during his shower this a.m. by his personal care aide at home. Does Enceph. cause inflammation of the skin? He was also running a temp. of 101-102. Thank you.
I read carefully your question and understand your concern. You should know that encephalitis is acute infection of the brain, caused by an infectious agent (viral, bacterial or fungal). The infectious agent is responsible for the skin lesions too. They are connected. Herpes infection may mimic this clinical scenario. Anyway, some blood lab tests and a lumbar puncture are needed to determine the type of infectious agent and proper treatment therapy. Hope you will find this answer helpful!
