What Causes Red Rash And Swelling On Stomach After An Umbilical Hernia Repair?
I have had an umbilical hernia repair three weeks ago. There has been an infection that seems to be resolving with antibiotics but on my belly is a red rectangle that is dry flaky skin , in the shape if the mesh that was used. It stings to the touch and seems to be getting red bumps. The entire area is swollen. Is this an allergic reaction to the mesh material and should it be removed?

It indeed seems to be an irritant reaction with mesh.
Please bring this to your doctor's notice, so that another mesh of diffrent quality can be used if at all its required.
Application of steroid antibiotic cream would help in resolution of the lesion. Also do not use spirit, undiluted dettol or savlon over affected area.
