What Causes Red Spots On The Arms In People Taking Xeolda?

Yes, my mom is 93 yrs old, she has been taking a generic drug for Xeolda (chemo pill). She has recently starting to have red spots appear on both of her arms. Is this something that she should see a skin doctor? Her oncologist did not seem concerned about them, her only comment was they would keep an eye on these red spots and make sure they are not on the trunk of her body, legs, etc. What would be causing these red spots and are they dangerous to her health? Please let me know

Cannot say in her particular case. dermatologic conditions are difficult to diagnose or treat without seeing them. Some of the possibilties are simply age related spots. Alternatively cancer and/or chemotherapy can impede the ability to keep blood in and it can leak out causing red spots. These vary from small to quite large bruises and can be addressed with simple blood work, but can be very dangerous if there is a lot of bleeding.
