Two weeks ago i noticed a red circle on my inner thigh. I thought it was a rash i didnt pay attention to it. But last week since it wouldnt go away and i was getting similar red spots on my stomache. I went to tbe doctor and she said it was ringworm. She gave me medicine pills and oinment. Its been four days. Ive noticed that the smaller red spots i had before are still getting bigger and are no longer little bumps and ive noticed more comeing out on my leg. Why is the ringworm getting worse instead of better if im already takeing medication? Is this normal?
The possible diagnosis of the condition based on the description of the lesions is tinea cruris which is a fungal infection. You must keep the area dry as moist environment hastens the fungal growth.Topical antifungal creams like clotrimazole can be applied over the affected area. Or antifungal tablets like Terbinafine or fluconazole can be used. If you do not respond to this you may also take itraconazole which is useful in resistant infections. You also need to get investigated for diabetes. Consult your dermatologist regarding the above mentioned therapy. Regards
